A typical house audio setup will have all components in a single location in the home—most often placed in a rack in a utility room or nearby the home theater, or fitted into a cabinet in a central location media area. Wire is pulled from this location to other rooms in the home, where the audio will usually be controlled by a volume control or keypad. Many touch-screen keypads allow you to toggle through available audio sources and select songs to add to your playlist; volume controls will allow you to adjust the volume in a given room but not change the source or select specific music. This would have to be done from the main location or a nearby television, if you so choose.
